Marcellus              3:40 pm
Eulalie                   3:50 pm
Marian                   4:10 pm
Charlie                   4:30 pm
Mrs. Paroo             4:45 pm

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?/TIPS TO SUCCEED AT YOUR AUDITION:
Tommy/Zaneeta:    Zaneeta, you will be performing the same lines  you did at your audition.  You will be interacting with a "Tommy" callback. We are looking for a Zaneeta that has tons of personality, knows how to flirt, and has killer dance skills.  Tommy, you will be performing the same lines from the original audition as well (see audition post!)with a "Zaneeta" callback.   Tommy is youthful, has a JEELY KLY that is very memorable, and a strong presence on stage.

Mayor:   Repeat the same lines from the audition. We are holding a Mayor Shinn callback in the hopes that we will see MORE from you. The lines you are saying are at a point when the mayor is very flustered. Tommy just set off firecrackers and interrupted his wife's speech! We should see you getting more and more angry--but in a humorous way-- as the scene progresses. Make sure you say the lines correctly : )

Marcellus:  Repeat the same song/lines from the original audition.  We are holding a callback for Marcellus hoping to see you PERFORM.  Show us tons of personality on Shipoopi!

Eulalie:   Repeat the same lines/song from the original audition.  Also learn the new lines below.  You girls are going to be the hardest part to cast because you seriously all made me giggleat the audition. You were so good! So remember, Eulalie is elegant, graceful, snooty, and HILARIOUS. Bring your style, and your "funny."
New lines for Eulalie:  (Eulalie comes out with the Pick a Little Ladies and leads them in a "native American" performance--all decked out in traditional attire and taking themselves very seriously...) I will now count to ten in the Indian tongue! Een teen tuther feather fip! (Tommy Djilas sets off a firecracker and Eulalie thinks she's been shot. Swoons) I'm shot, George! Who shot me?

Marian:   Congrats on having a fabulous Marian audition. We will have you sing "My White Knight" one more time. This isn't my favorite song for Marian, but it's her hardest song to sell to the audience. Help the judges love this song by singing with a warm, open tone and sweet dreaminess! Please also learn the lines below. You will be reading with our real, actual Harolds. We will be looking for you to connect with him and have chemistry together. This a sweet, romantic scene--don't actually kiss! But make us believe you COULD kiss him ;-) I know the images are slightly blurry, but they are legible, so just do your best...like I did getting these on here after staying up until 1 am to see who the new President is...

Charlie: Repeat your same lines. You will be interacting with girls your age this time, so we really want you to get into your acting and seem believable as a determined, slightly creepy salesman. Be realistic and have that part memorized PERFECTLY.

Mrs. Paroo:   You will be repeating the same lines/song from the original audition.  We are calling back for this part because we are hoping to find someone(s) with a BIGGER, crisper, Irish voice. We believe you can do it! Be fearless in speaking out. Mrs. Paroo is NOT shy...she is the opposite. And she REALLY wants Marian to get married. Think about how that affects her lines. The part you have to sing is really difficult--and we did that on purpose! We need to see who can dig in and have a huge voice on a song that is super fast and sassy. She's telling her daughter she's worried she'll never marry.

Lines with Mama:

Lines with Harold:

Song to Sing:  "My White Knight"
Sing with piano alone to learn:
Sing along with the professional (begins at about 2 mins)

AUDITION FOR MAYOR SHINN
Mayor Shinn takes himself very seriously, feels very self-important, and mixes up words regularly without realizing it. He says everything with a great deal of confidence.  End at "Credentials!" NO SINGING.

AUDITION FOR MRS. PAROO
Mrs. Paroo is Marian and Winthrop's Mother. She has a thick Irish accent and a huge personality! I can't wait to see some of you audition for this wonderful role! She has lines and a song.

Mrs. Paroo's Song:
Sing along on the piano with Mrs. Crane:

MRS Paroo's Lines
AUDITION FOR EULALIE MACKECKNIE SHINN

Practice with Mrs. Crane:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMfRPKghVdU

TOMMY DJILAS AND ZANEETA SHINN AUDITION:
We are looking for "character" choices here! They both have a phrase they always say.  Tommy says, "Jeely Kly." Zaneeta says, "E-gads." They are young teens in love. Try using different voice-styles until you find one that really stands out and helps us envision you in this role. Being good at dance/movement a plus for this role.

AUDITION FOR CHARLIE COWELL
This traveling salesman HATES Harold Hill and is just a bit of a cad.  Has to smooch Marian, so don't audition for this part if you won't/can't kiss on stage. Acting skills a must.

AUDITION FOR MARCELLUS WASHBURN
The only person who knows the truth about Harold.  He is a loyal friend and a great personality! Must be an awesome performer!
Lines to learn:

Song to sing:

Sing along on the piano with Mrs. Crane:
Sing along with a professional:

Audition Results, Round 1

Music Man Auditions Round 1
Harold Hill:      “River” cast—Marshall Parrish
“City” cast—Lance Smith
Barbershop Quartet:
Bass—Dallin Smith
Baritone—Copper Hartman
2nd Tenor—Carter Ellis
1st Tenor—Calvin Crane
·       Based upon their excellent auditions, the following individuals get to perform in the difficult opening number “Rock Island” as traveling salesmen. (Check it out online—it’s the epic “train” song about 2 minutes into “Rock Island.”) These boys will be used elsewhere in the show as well.  We also hope these individuals will come back and audition on Nov. 7-8 for the other male leads:

Jett Johnson, Logan Castillo, Emmett Huff, Ben Jessop, Jeremy Shipp, Tyler Bingham, Carter Rose, James Bunnell, Tanner Swapp

· ALL BOYS WHO AUDITIONED Oct. 10th WILL BE CAST IN
 THE SHOW. Well done!

NOTE:  We had a fantastic callback for our barbershop quartet. Final decisions were based upon who could stay true to their pitch while singing with 3 other parts. After narrowing that down and having students of equal ability, we looked at Grades and Citizenship. Please remember that we can’t cast anyone with F’s and U’s, and N’s will have to have teacher approval.  Work hard to get your grades/citizenship improved. We NEED YOU in “The Music Man!”

Barbershop Quartet Audition

Audition Date: Oct. 10 --sign up outside of Mrs. Crane's room!
The singers in the barbershop quartet have to been 100% confident holding their note perfectly while 3 other singers harmonize with them. They have to have excellent pitch, and tons of personality! They are humorous, and TALENTED.

For this audition, select ONE line/part of music to have memorized:
Jacey is the high tenor, Ewart is the lead/tenor, Oliver is the baritone, Olin is the low bass. Select the part that you feel best matches  your vocal abilities. Practice and memorize your line so that you can confidently sing it! Then at the audition, you will sing with 2-3 other voices to demonstrate your ability to harmonize.

Audition for Harold Hill

Audition Date: Oct 10th--sign up outside Mrs. Crane's room!
Harold Hill is THE STAR of "The Music Man." This is a major, demanding role. If you are cast as Harold, this has to be your top priority until April 1, the night our show closes. You have to be committed to study and be completely memorized by January 1. You have to take care of your health and not do anything to jeopardize this production. You will be a leader and will be expected to have the best behavior and highest moral standards so others can look to you. This is a BIG DEAL! Are you ready for the challenge? Yes? Then read on: Harold's audition has 3 parts: 1. Ya Got Trouble and 2. Seventy-Six trombones, plus 3. a reading with Marian. Study all 3 parts. Be memorized before you come in! Be prepared and have a great attitude. Sign up for a time slot outside of Mrs. Crane's room. We will have a young lady present to read for Marian.
